Who We Are

South Texas School of Ministry at New Life Church is designed to equip and empower those who are called to lead their homes, communities, cities, churches, and the world toward experiencing the life-changing power of God’s Word and presence.

The strongest leadership training is within the local church, where future leaders are best challenged, encouraged, and readied for ministry. Our approach to training and empowering the next generation of leaders is key to our church’s long-term vision of expanding God’s kingdom. We believe the students of South Texas School of Ministry will be those who will continue to carry on the mission of raising up this generation to be God’s expression of redemption, hope, and life.

The foundation of the South Texas School of Ministry is established within the relationship between the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. Our desire is to return to the simplicity, passion, and purity of the Gospel, trusting in the power of the Scriptures, the power of the Spirit, and the power of prayer.

“We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God. He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.” – 2 Corinthians 3:4-6

What We Believe

TRINITY – There is one God, comprised of three Persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. All are equally God, and all are eternal. (Matthew 28:19; John 1:1, 14)

CHURCH – The Church is the Body of Christ, continuing the work Jesus began while on the earth. Each believer is a part of the Body of Christ, with a specific function to perform. (Ephesians 1:22; 2:19-22; Romans 12:3-8)

HOLY SPIRIT – The Holy Spirit brings power to the believer to be an effective witness for Jesus and bestows the gifts of the Spirit for the encouragement of others. Therefore, we believe that every believer needs the baptism of the Holy Spirit to be empowered to be His witness. (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; 2:38-39; 10:44-46; 11:14-16; 15:7-9; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31)

THE SCRIPTURES – We affirm the Bible containing the Old and New Testaments is the infallible and inspired Word of God, and its authority is ultimate, final, and eternal. It cannot be added to, subtracted from, or superseded in any regard. The Bible is the source of all doctrine, instruction, and correction. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

WORSHIP – We believe worship is a response to a holy God. When we join together in one accord to worship the Lord as the singers and musicians did in 2 Chronicles 5:13-14, we believe the tangible presence of the Almighty God will fill the sanctuary resulting in changed, transformed, and renewed lives. We are a presence-driven church that believes in the power of the Holy Spirit.
